Ohio Cooperative Youth Day is an annual trip sponsored by North Central Electric Cooperative focused on introducing young leaders to the legislative process and allowing them the opportunity to learn about our government and its relationship with rural electric cooperatives. The trip, open to all high school students, takes participants to Columbus for the day to visit the Ohio Statehouse where they will have the opportunity to explore the building, learn about Ohio's history, and meet with legislators who represent the communities served by NCE.
Cooperative Youth Day is the first step in NCE's youth engagement initiative, aimed at educating students about the cooperative business model.
Any sophomores or juniors who attend Youth Day have the opportunity to learn more about Ohio's Electric Cooperatives' annual Youth Tour trip and how that application process works, and express interest in receiving more information once applications are available.
Both breakfast and lunch are provided as well as transportation to and from Columbus from the cooperative office in Attica. Students interested in history, government, and politics are encouraged to apply! Check out the video below highlighting what Cooperative Youth Day is all about!
