Children of Members Scholarship
North Central Electric Cooperative awards $10,000 in scholarships each year to outstanding high school seniors who reside in a home served by the co-op. The young man or woman chosen as the top overall applicant is also eligible to compete for an additional scholarship, worth up to $3,800, at the statewide contest sponsored by Ohio's Electric Cooperatives. 

CooperativeTrade Scholarship
As part of our ongoing support for our youth programs, NCE now offers a $500 trade scholarship to high school seniors pursuing further education and enrolling at a technical or trade school following graduation. Some career courses that may qualify for the scholarship include industrial electricity, heating, air conditioning, masonry trades, allied health science, auto technology, nursing, welding and fabrication, and carpentry. Applicants must be graduating seniors carrying a grade point average of 2.0 or above who reside in homes served by NCE.

Touchstone Energy® Adversity Scholarship
The Touchstone Energy Adversity Scholarship offers students who have committed themselves to the pursuance of a college education despite unique and substantial personal challenges outside of work or extracurricular commitments which may have befallen them the opportunity to earn a $1,000 scholarship. This special scholarship rewards students expressing the same values in their lives as the Touchstone Energy® brand:

  • Accountability - the candidate demonstrates a high level of maturity through accountability for their actions.
  • Integrity - the candidate expresses the highest standards of character
  • Innovation - the candidate demonstrates innovation and determination in coping with their circumstances
  • Commitment to Community - the candidate has good citizenship traits and a record of contribution to their local community.  

Louise Freeland Scholarship
Four $3,000 scholarships and four $1,200 scholarships are available to children of employees and trustees who are graduating high school seniors and are not eligible for other scholarships offered by the cooperative. Scholarships are awarded annually, following an interview of the finalists in Columbus. The scholarship is named after long-time cooperative employee Louise Freeland, who retired in 1990. Click here for more information. This scholarship is handled through Ohio's Electric Cooperatives, and employees should look for an email from them at the end of the year.  

Ohio Line Supervisors Association Scholarship
Three scholarships, in the amounts of $2,000, $1,500, and $1,000, are available to children of employees who are graduating high school seniors and are not eligible for other scholarships offered by the cooperative. Applications for the 2023 Children of Members Scholarship are now available for download here.

The scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors whose parents/guardians are members of North Central Electric Cooperative and receive electricity at their primary residence from the cooperative. The applicants must have at least a 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) cumulative grade point average or better.

Applications must be returned to the cooperative office by 4:30 p.m. on Feb.10, 2023.

Winners must also be accepted and then enrolled in the accredited college or proper vocational or technical school of their choice.
