As part of NCE’s ongoing support of youth programs, the co-op is proud to offer a $500 trade scholarship to high school seniors who are pursuing further education and are enrolled at a technical or trade school following graduation. Some career courses that may qualify for the scholarship include industrial electricity, heating, air conditioning, masonry trades, allied health science, auto technology, nursing, welding and fabrication, and carpentry. To qualify, applicants must be graduating seniors with a grade point average of 2.0 or above who reside in homes served by NCE.

Examples of programs or courses of study eligible to receive this scholarship include, but are not limited to:
- Allied Health Science
- Auto Technology
- Carpentry
- Heating & Air Conditioning
- Industrial Electricity

- Nursing
- Welding & Fabrication
Our scholarship programs are available to any graduating high school senior who is the dependent of a cooperative member-owner. The Cooperative Trade Scholarship funding can be used at a two-year college or university, as well as at a technical or trade school to receive certification.
We are proud of this opportunity to help make a difference in the lives of our youth.
Provisions govern the eligibility of applicants for the Cooperative Trade Scholarship:
- Applicants must be residential members of North Central Electric Cooperative (NCE), or dependent children, or legal wards of permanent residential electric cooperative members receiving electric service at the time of application.
- Applicants must be a graduating high school senior enrolling in a technical program, current technical school enrollees, or students enrolling in a post-undergraduate technical program. Applicants must plan to attend or currently attend an accredited technical school program.
- The money awarded by this scholarship can be used to cover program costs, books, tools, or other related materials necessary to fund the winner’s education.
- Applicants must have cumulative grade point averages of 2.0 or above on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent standing on nontraditional scales. High school GPAs shall be used for applicants who have not yet begun a program, while technical school GPAs shall be used for applicants currently enrolled in programs.
- Applications must be typed and submitted on forms furnished by NCE. Scholarship applications must be received by NCE by February 7, 2025. Interviews will take place Thursday, February 27, 2025 at the coop office.
- Application information must be confined to the official form. The only attachments permitted are high school transcripts and one letter of recommendation from an instructor.
- Applicants who have received “full-ride” scholarships (tuition, room, board, and books) to the schools of their choice are not eligible for NCE scholarships.
- Applicants whose immediate family members are (or reside in the households of) NCE trustees or NCE employees are not eligible.
- All scholarships must be accepted in the first academic year after proof of enrollment is received by NCE. However, an extension of one year may be granted for just cause in the judgment of the general manager. In the event applicants are unable to fulfill their enrollment obligation under this program, awards are forfeited.
