Buckeye Central will be saving a significant amount of money thanks to an energy efficient lighting upgrade. North Central Electric presented Buckeye Central Local School with a rebate check for $7,500 for the lighting upgrade during the September Board of Education meeting.

Jared Clady, head of maintenance with Buckeye Central replaced a total of 450 compact fluorescent bulbs with 75 new fixtures in the high school gym, middle school gym and the multi-purpose room. “By completing the lighting upgrade the school is saving $ 6,000 per year in energy and maintenance costs and should realize a full payback from the project in a little less than 2 years,” according to Scott Carbary, marketing and member service manager with North Central Electric Cooperative.

“Replacing your lighting fixtures is one of the easiest ways to save energy and money,” stated Scott Carbary, “We are pleased to partner with schools within our service territory to help them with long-term energy savings while improving lighting to deliver a better educational experience.”

Energy efficiency lighting retrofit upgrades are eligible for a rebate provided by North Central Electric commercial members. Rebates are based upon total lamp watts saved.
