Chatfield Hardware, one of North Central Electric Cooperative’s most loyal heating and cooling dealers, closed its doors in June after 115 years.
Chatfield Hardware owner Bob Marcum has installed and serviced water heaters for North Central members in Crawford, Richland, and Seneca counties for more than 25 years. He also installed hundreds of heat pumps and geothermal heating and cooling systems so members could receive rebates from North Central.
“When members were without hot water or their tanks were leaking, we knew when we called Chatfield Hardware we could count on service being delivered promptly,” said Director of Communications, Member and Community Relations Terry Mazzone. “North Central’s mantra is always ‘members first,’ and Bob felt the same way about his customers. It was an ideal partnership. We wish Bob nothing but the best in his retirement.”
Before he closed the doors, Energy Services Advisor Andrew Finton and Assistant Data Processing Manager Diane Wise, who used to administer the co-op’s water heater program, presented Marcum with a North Central throw depicting a 1940s scene.
