North Central Electric Cooperative sent a line crew to northeastern Kentucky this week to help an electric cooperative restore power to its consumers following heavy rains and flooding this past weekend.

Four linemen and two equipment trucks left North Central’s Attica offices on Tuesday to provide mutual aid for Fleming-Mason Electric Cooperative of Flemingsburg, KY, located about 60 miles northeast of Lexington, Ky.  

Kentucky was hit hard, primarily in the northeastern and eastern part of the state by the same thunderstorm system that came through Ohio on Monday night.  Kentucky had a several systems that experienced severe outages.  The North Central line crew is expected to be in Kentucky until the weekend.

Fleming-Mason Energy Cooperative serves more than 23,000 consumers.  The area sustained many broken poles that have taken down power lines. About 2,000 remained without power Wednesday afternoon.

North Central Electric Cooperative line crews are among more than 16 electric cooperative line workers helping restore power to those affected by severe storms in Kentucky.

The Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives Job Training and Safety Department reports three other Ohio electric cooperatives were providing mutual aid to Grayson Rural Electric Cooperative in Grayson, Ky. while two other cooperatives were assisting Buckeye Rural Electric Cooperative in Rio Grande, Ohio.
