Funding granted to Kansas Fire Department and St. John’s Church
The North Central Electric Cooperative People Fund board came to the aid of the Kansas Volunteer Fire Department that serves Seneca and Sandusky counties.
With the $1,400 grant awarded by the People Fund, the department was able to purchase two portable gas detectors. The detectors check for carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, oxygen, and lower explosive limits in atmosphere-deficient areas.
“These detectors can be used for confined space rescues or checking houses for carbon monoxide or hazards that may exist,” said Assistant Fire Chief James Reinhart.
With funding totaling $2,500, St. John’s Lutheran God’s Work Our Half Acre will be able to power their outdoor pavilion. The shelter provides space for outdoor worship services and outdoor activities.
“Having electric will provide a safer environment for organizations that would have access to the pavilion, including the Tender Loving Care Preschool, New Washington Cub Scouts, New Washington Girl Scouts, Crawford County Genealogical Society, and Sa’Ven Community Youth Center,” said Pastor Tom Pairan.
