The North Central Electric People Fund held its quarterly meeting July 15, granting four community organizations a total of $12,650.

The largest grant went to the Republic Boy Scouts Troop 442, who received a $5,150 grant for a new trailer that will assist them in camping and hauling other supplies during trips or events.

Other organizations who received grants during the July meeting included the American Legion Victory Post 260 for a flag for the Veterans Memorial Park in Attica, the Mohawk Community Library for chairs and other office furniture, and FACT of Seneca County for transportation assistance.

These four grants bring the total distributed amount for 2020 to $37,662.03 for 16 grants, including three emergency grants to NCE members.

The People Fund is funded through Operation Round Up, where members voluntarily have their monthly bills rounded up to the nearest dollar. Since its creation in 1999, 515 grants totaling over $960,000 have been distributed to area organizations and individuals, all because of the generosity of NCE members.
