North Central Electric will be sending three students as its ambassadors for the annual Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. 

A pair of Hopewell-Loudon High School students and a Seneca East High School student will represent North Central in 2015 on the seven-day, all expense-paid trip. 

Earning the trip are Kevin Fruth and Alexis Feindel of Hopewell-Loudon and Jacob Margraf of Seneca East.  

Attractions include the U.S. Capitol, Smithsonian Institution, the Vietnam Memorial, Mount Vernon and attending a performance at the Kennedy Center. They will be guests during an evening cruise on the Potomac River. The trio also will meet Ohio congressional representatives and attend Youth Day ceremonies, where they will learn more about electric cooperatives. 

Kevin, 16, is the son of David Fruth and Lori and Don Ferguson of Loudon Township. He is a member of Hopewell-Loudon’s Championship Quiz Bowl Team and attended Camp Med at the University of Toledo. He earned the National Machinery Citizenship Award and the Americanism Test Award. He volunteers at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fostoria, Bascom United Methodist Church and the National Farmer’s Organization concession stand at the Seneca County Fair. 

Alexis, 16, is the daughter of Matthew and Krista Feindel of Hopewell Township. A sophomore, she is a member of the Chieftain Leadership Club, a recipient of the National Machinery Award for exemplary citizenship for two years and a member of the school’s Student Council. She represented Hopewell-Loudon as one of the 2014 Distinguished Youth Asset Builder Award winners sponsored by the Tiffin Rotary Club, Seneca County Family and Children First, and Tiffin Optimist Club. She has earned letters in track, volleyball and basketball. A member of the Union United Church of Christ, she will join the church youth group on a mission trip to Indianapolis, Ind., to renovate a church parsonage. 

Jacob is the son of Joel and Melody Margraf of Adams Township. He is a member of the Seneca East golf team and quiz bowl team plus is active in the school science club. He is a 10-year member of the Republic Rowdy Rednecks 4-H club, specializing in  woodworking and conservation projects. He has earned three blue ribbons at the Ohio State Fair, plus he earned the clock trophy for the “You’re The Chef” project in 2014 and placed fifth in the “Nailing It Together” woodworking project in 2013. He assists his father with a portable sawmill business and collects maple sap for syrup in the winter. 

The Youth Tour competition was based on the students’ scholastic records, a competitive examination consisting of general information about cooperatives, questions pertaining to North Central and recommendation letters submitted by a school or community official.
