On Wednesday, November 17, 2021, North Central Electric was pleased to hold a ribbon-cutting dedication ceremony in conjunction with the Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce for the newly installed ChargePoint Electric Vehicle Charging Station at Seneca East Schools.

Ed VanHoose, General Manager of NCE, said, "Not only does adding this EV charging station portray the cooperative principle of Concern for Community, but it also reinforces several of the values of the board and our employees: Contribution to our communities, obligation to environmental stewardship and commitment to our members.  We are proud to be able to be a leader in the area for the improvement of lives and access to this resource."

The station was installed thanks to a grant from North Central Electric via their state organization, Ohio's Electric Cooperatives. This EV charger was installed to improve the infrastructure associated with the increased interest in EV vehicles and it is the second in the region. The second identical charger is located at North Central Electric Cooperative's headquarters in Attica.

Executive Director of the Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce Bryce Riggs said, "North Central Electric's investment in the area through these charging stations is the exact type of reinvestment and business growth we love to see.  We are proud to call NCE chamber members and partners in the improvement of Seneca County for everyone."

The North Central Electric ChargePoint chargers are both level two electric vehicle chargers with a 6.6 kW capability and J1772 charge plugs. The J1772 is the basic charge plug on a majority of vehicles except for the Tesla. Additionally, both locations are capable of charging two vehicles at once.
